Endlich ist es vorbei. wow. Der letzte Band war, ehrlich gesagt, eine Zeitverschwendung. Hab am Ende nur noch die Seiten überflogen.
The story ends, the world continues
I am being generous with my rating since I like their dynamic, but if there was no romance, the story itself, I'd rate it much lower 😅 At no point in this series was I really interested in anything surrounding the politics of the Zhou Dynasty or most of the fights. Mainly because those other characters aren't interesting, and I am also not interested in reading a history book. I think it's cool if you can implement that in your story in an interesting way, but this wasn't the case here for me. This volume starts with the crossdress rescue mission, which was maybe even the most interesting part. But that kinda wrapped up really quickly (some even off page, like the thing with Xueting), which was a bit weird. Then, the focus was on Shen Qiao and Xuandu Mountain again. I think his arc, in contrast, was wrapped up nicely. The supposed highlight of the volume, as written on the back, was the big fight of Yan Wushi against the leader of the Göktürk Khaganate. Well, as with most fights, I didn't really care 😅 At least for the fight itself. The aftermath was more interesting. Weirdly enough, this is where the story "ends," and the epilogue begins, but it's just normally continuing. This is also where the most important parts happen. They finally get together! What a slow burn indeed. I still didn't a 100% feel it, but I do like their relationship. It's just weird how Shen Qiao suddenly realized his feelings after that one thing and was like, "I never really thought about it before." Like, wdym you didn't think about your feelings towards the person that keeps kissing you?! xD He always pushed him away as well, so it didn't seem like he liked him in that way, but oh well 🤷🏻♂️ I just wanted more talking about feelings. That was hardly a confession 😅 The extra chapters afterward were a mix of random people's stories that also connected to the politics of the kingdoms, continuing the story, with appearances of Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao, and a few of the past, many with Qi Fengge. The more personal ones were interesting, but there was never enough of them being a cute couple. It's also a bit sad that there are no explicit scenes (it's fade to black), especially when describing their love making as "it sounded like demons were fighting" 😂 Well, all in all, a series that was disappointing to me, but at least I liked the couple in the end. Without Yan Wushi, I wouldn't have been able to make it through though. Still glad I did, but I'll never read that again, and I think I'll also pass on this authors other series (Peerless), at least for now.
I didn‘t think I would love this series so much. A lot of people told me, that Thousand Autumns didn‘t have a lot of romance and is really political, so I was sceptical if I would really like it. But I fell in love with this world, the characters and their storys. Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi are really unique characters and I enjoyed their journey. Also their bickering made me laugh a lot. I will miss them and now I am really excited for Peerless!
