Wow! I did have quite high hopes for this book because of so many great reviews. But still I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I absolutely didn’t expect any of the twists and really enjoyed the writing style! I will definitely check out what else Layne Fargo wrote/will write!
This was SO GOOD!! This story is about a serial killer who plans to take revenge on all men who have wronged women, who have abused, raped, and assaulted them. That's all you need to know to know how interesting this whole book will be. Besides that, the two main characters we are following are both bisexual women, which we absolutely love to see! Even though the middle part could've been cut shorter, I absolutely adored every page, which doesn't happen often in thrillers. Additionally, I thought the audiobook was very well done too, so I would definitely recommend that too!!
More like 4.5* or 4* . Feeling generous might change my mind later

This book is an awesome thriller, and here's why: - The serial killer only kills human wastes like rapists, bullies, abusers. She brings justice while everyone else is just either victim blaming+shaming or giving dismissive treatments to literally assaulted women. - The subject matter is not easy to read, but the author handled it incredibly well bringing them to the surface for everybody to be aware of. - It is fast-paced, well-written, the prose is not anything special, but efficient, which is how I like my books, especially thrillers. - We have two POVs that we're following in quite short chapters which is always good for me. Scarlett never diverges from her path of fairness and Carly generally tries her best to be a good, supportive friend (it's honestly hard to summarise them). - None of the characters is unnecessary. Everybody represents real-life people. (I am heartbroken about something, even though I know we have people like them around, but it's a spoiler that I cannot even say how I felt after reading it.) - It always keeps you guessing, especially towards the first twist. That first build up inspired me to come up with two different stories which I am never going to write (although I'm quite sure, there are already books like those ideas). However, I am dead sure that some people will despise this book. Having a serial character in any type of media can be controversial, but I think people need to learn to draw the line between fiction and reality. This book never glamorises murder or murderer, but I know there will be people who will disagree and say murder is murder despite the motives behind it. Justice doesn't always punish crimes the way they deserve, because there are still people behind justice. Therefore, if we are dealing with something fictional (because you know, it should be somewhat entertaining), I am in the mind that we should stop criticising the writer and the outcomes in a book, instead, we should find a way to educate minds on what is right and wrong, and set real-life examples of heavy imprisonment of human garbages. I love seeing serial killers in media that bring justice when there is no one else taking care of the situation. We cannot let these criminals keep living their lives without any consequences. I think the takeaways from these types of characters should be asking questions like What changes we should make to keep justice alive? and creating answers and implementing them. Dexter is my favourite tv series (I've watched it a million times) and I am 100% behind the resemblance which me saying this can come as a shock for many people who know me. This is a solid serial killer thriller, I recommend.
beginning was a bit slow
i loved the concept of being in the pov of the murderer and how the story was slowly put into pieces. i would’ve wished for another plottwist or a bit more suspense, but it was so much fun reading it.
