New from bestselling author Stephanie Perkins, and the perfect companion to her New York Times bestseller There's Someone Inside Your House, available now on Netflix!

“The scares here are authentic, and the details meticulous, driven by a smart, distinct narrative voice. Hand this to fans of the film Midsommar who will delight in the eerie world building, the disintegration and rebuilding of interpersonal relationships, and the unseen forces of evil that threaten to break two friends apart.” –Booklist

Bears aren’t the only predators in these woods.
Best friends Neena and Josie spent high school as outsiders, but at least they had each other. Now, with college and a two-thousand-mile separation looming on the horizon, they have one last chance to be together—a three-day hike deep into the woods of the Pisgah National Forest.

Simmering tensions lead to a detour off the trail and straight into a waking nightmare … and then into something far worse. Something that will test them in horrifying ways.

Stephanie Perkins, the bestselling author of There’s Someone Inside Your House, returns with a heart-stopping, gut-wrenching novel about friendship, survival, and navigating unmarked paths even as evil watches from the shadows.

I was so excited to start spooky month but unfortunately, this wasn't the book to properly head into the spooky season. While [b:There's Someone Inside Your House|15797848|There's Someone Inside Your House|Stephanie Perkins|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1493650191l/15797848._SY75_.jpg|21520760] wasn't my cup of tea, I was ready to give Perkins another chance. But this book was a bore. Nothing happened during the first half of it, the girls were just hiking and bickering and whining about their situation. Nothing spooky or creepy happened. Then, suddenly, things took a turn into the unbelievable. Josie lost both a foot and a hand, but she was able to walk/limp through the woods. The murders were guys with weird backstories (which were randomly told through like some sort of supernatural touch or something? I didn't understand it). Yet their motives were never explained. They were just... there and killed people. And then there was this open end... The girls had no real character and were rather flat. I didn't care about them, so it was hard to sympathize with them. It took me nearly ten days to finish this short book just because I didn't want to pick it up after nothing happened during the first half. Finished the rest of it on one single evening though.
