Jude has done it. She has managed to gain power and status in Fairie. After binding Cardan to the throne, she is by his side, but there is one little problem: He will only be under her control for 1 year and 1 day. She needs to find a way to keep her family save for longer and not lose her newfound influence.
If one figured that faes like to scheme then you have to get ready for the most intense political game of keeping a king on his throne, even while he tries to embarrass you at every given moment. Jude is not only fighting Cardan, but every single person keen to get the crown and power over Fairie in their hands. This book if filled with plotting, twists and turns on every page. It shows how far everyone would go to achieve their dearest dream and the ugly truth. While Jude is getting dragged from one end to the other, her relationship with Cardan is something I hold so dear to me, because how slow and then all at the same time she begins to understand the complex feelings she has for him. But most of all, I would recommend this second book, because of how "Once upon a time, there was a human girl stolen away by faeries, and because of that, she swore to destroy them." and I find that really beautiful.
Better than book 1
Easy political intrigues. I liked it. Sometimes loved it. Still don‘t know how high i would put the fantasy vs romance parts. Fantasy with a romance subplot ig but the romance is so well done. Is it 70% 30% or 60% 40%? Idk. Also i HATE that bitch taryn with a burning passion. Vivi ain‘t any better! Damn your sisters, jude
