Das war so eine süße Romanze. Hab den Fake-Dating-Trope geliebt. Ich mochte die Hauptcharaktere und wie sie aneinander wachsen. Es war so süß zu sehen, wie sich ihre Beziehung im Laufe der Geschichte entwickelte, und der Spice war auch wirklich sehr gut, und natürlich gab es viele lustige Szenen. Während ich las, lächelte und lachte ich, strampelte mit den Zehen in der Luft und dachte nur: „Oh mein Gott, küsst euch einfach"
Mann Mann Mann, da waren aber einige seeeehr spicy Szenen drin. Eine Szene fand ich dann absolut unpassend. Ansonsten war es ein ganz nett zu lesender Liebesroman. Was mir ein wenig gefehlt hat sind die romantischen Vibes zwischen den beiden Protagonisten. Der erste Band der Reihe war in dieser Hinsicht besser. Wer viel wett gemacht hat ist die Familie von Solange, die man schon von Band 1 her kennt. Die 3 Schwestern sind der Knaller.
Gefühlvoll, witzig, spicy
Ich habe mir das Hörbuch angehört und mochte es sehr, dass das Buch von einem Mann für Dean und einer Frau für Solange gelesen wurde. Die beiden haben die Figuren wirklich greifbar gemacht. Besonders gut gefallen hat mir, wie sich Solange und ihren Cousinen, Tanten und ihre Mutter gegenseitig unterstützten und immer ein offenes Ohr füreinander hatten (und ihre Meinung auch ungefragt teilten 😅). Das ist Sisterhood vom feinsten. Und der Spice, heilige 🌶️ Ich bin nicht jemand, der spice in seinen Büchern braucht, und ich mag sie nicht immer, vor allem, wenn sie sich nicht organisch und authentisch anfühlen. Aber das hier... Irgendwie war ich immer mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln unterwegs, während ich die spicy Szenen hörte und ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass ich rot geworden bin. Die Szenen sind so gut geschrieben und ooof einfach 🥵 Ich fand es auch toll, dass Dean mehr Romantiker war, als er anfangs zugeben wollte. Seine Gedanken waren teilweise richtig süß und ich mochte es, wie er mehr und mehr auch dazu stand.
3,5/5 Sterne Ich liebe den Schreibstil der Autorin! Auch wenn die Geschichten nichts innovativ neues sind, sind sie doch immer so liebevoll geschrieben und voller Humor. Vor allem die Nebencharaktere wachsen mir immer mehr ans Herz und ich hoffe sehr, dass es noch weitere Bücher aus dem Universum geben wird!
This was such a cute romance. Loved the fake dating trope. Loved the main characters and how they grow on each other. It was so cute to see their relationship develop in the course of the story and the spice was also really really and of course there were a lot of funny scenes. While reading I was smiling, laughing and kicking my toes in the air and was just like: "oh my god just kiss". Loved it.
DNF at 21% I love me a good slow burn, and that's what this book promised to be, unfortunately there's just a lot of places where the book falls flat. I enjoyed the first character introductions and felt like these are two interesting characters to watch fall in love. From Solange's POV we get: "I know my worth, and I'm not letting anyone diminish it. One thing's clear: Not being in a relationship is better than being in a bad one." And Dean had a marriage of convenience planned out for a promotion and as part of his life plan. I was interested seeing how these would mesh and/or collide, and could already see them getting along because of them both having clear ideas of what they want. When they actually start interacting, it's... not that. In their interactions they transform into very generic romance protagonists, the banter falls flat, so does the supposed attraction. Personally, it already bores me to death when the main characters get so early so very attracted to each other they can barely think in a slow burn unless there is a major plot reason to keep them apart or just plain old denial going on, because what is the hold-up otherwise? But in this specific case, the guy who plans out his love life to the extent of organising a full-on marriage with a woman he doesn't love instead of dating people organically seems like the last guy who'd black out in a conversation with a near-stranger who he finds attractive and miss whole chunks of it just because of that. I can and do explain away a lot of things that don't quite work in novels, especially romance ones, but I do still need a minimum of believability to fuel my willingness to suspend my disbelief. And you'd think that a guy who likes to plan out his romantic life so meticulously would have developed better coping methods to deal with surprise attractions to strangers. How can two characters who were so interesting on their own become so generic when interacting with each other? I will not continue this.
