An obstinate girl who will not be married.
A soldier desperate to prove himself.
A kingdom on the brink of war.

"An action-packed, expertly plotted story, drenched in double crosses and intrigue, with an irresistible heroine and a sweet and sexy romance.”Publishers Weekly, starred review

With a sharp tongue and an unruly temper, Sage Fowler is not what they’d call a proper lady—which is perfectly fine with her. Deemed unfit for a suitable marriage, Sage is apprenticed to a matchmaker and tasked with wrangling other young ladies to be married off for political alliances. She spies on the girls—and on the soldiers escorting them.

As the girls' military escort senses a political uprising, Sage is recruited by a handsome soldier to infiltrate the enemy ranks. The more she discovers as a spy, the less certain she becomes about whom to trust—and Sage becomes caught in a dangerous balancing act that will determine the fate of her kingdom.

With secret identities and a tempestuous romance, Erin Beaty'sThe Traitor’s Kissis full of intrigue, espionage, and lies.

An Imprint Book

"Marital and martial matters collide when brides and spies become ensnared in a treasonous plot. . . . Sage is a clever, contrary female protagonist who remains realistic and likable, while her fellow protagonist Ash is enigmatic enough to require a second read. . . .Both epic and intimate, a semi–old-fashioned alternative to the wave of inexplicably lethal superheroines and their smoldering love triangles." —Kirkus Reviews

The Traitors Kiss was a solid end entertaining read! I picked it up as an audio book and right from the get go it caught my attention and did not fail to hold it! Though most of the time I am not a reader who enjoys too much of a political plot, the one in this book was captivating and full of surprising twists, that kept the story interesting. I can't give it 5 stars though because I have two major issues with it. Issue Nr. 1: The downplay of other women. In this story I witnessed so many times how other women were degraded as vile and vain because they were more feminine than Sage, more fine than sage or actually liked the prospect of being matched to a husband. Oftentimes this method was used when the author wanted Sage to seem better than the others, because "she is not like other girls". And I, personally, hate it when authors do that, because it feels cheap. There is no shame in being more "classically" feminine and it shouldn't be seen as a bad quality. Issue Nr. 2: The characters were faceless. For most of the character I could not for the love of god imagine what they look like just because they weren't described further than their taint or haircolor. So everyone kind of started melting together into one blank faceless creature and it made it all the more confusing for me to separate all the different people in the army ranks or the escorted ladies. Other than that, I am intrigued to see what will happen in the next book in this series!
