I have no words to express myself. I'm amazed

I listened to the audiobook and I can't rate it because I didn't get it. Too many characters, theories, explanations, world building and everything. It lost me very soon in the beginning, but I continued, following the story, without understanding. Therefore I don't know.

————————— English translation: Quotes from the author: "As a science fiction author who started as a fan, I don’t use my stories as a disguised facade behind which I criticize present-day reality. For me, the greatest appeal of science fiction is the creation of numerous imaginary worlds that lie outside reality." "The stories of science are far more overwhelming, magnificent, intricate, profound, exciting, strange, terrifying, mysterious, and even emotional than those of literature. The only difference is that these wonderful stories are trapped in cold equations that most people cannot read." I think these quotes from Liu Cixin really encapsulate what one can expect from this book. The many scientific aspects of the story are presented in such a way that, as a layperson, it’s hard to distinguish fiction from what is actually possible - this, in my opinion, is what makes a good (hard) sci-fi book. If you enjoy pondering the finiteness of humanity, the almost unimaginably infinite universe, and the possibility of intelligent life - set against a (partly imaginary) scientific and socially critical background - then you won’t be disappointed. I certainly wasn’t, and I’m very excited to start the sequel now :) "I have always believed that extraterrestrial intelligences will be the greatest source of uncertainty for the future of humanity." Quote from the book: "Emptiness is not nothingness. Emptiness is a form of existence. You must fill yourself with this existential emptiness."

Story: 5/10 Characters: 7/10 Style: 8/10 I don't know how to describe this book because I can't say "That was amazing" or "Wow, I loved it!". It isn't that kind of book for me. But the way it was written it felt incredibly real and because it felt real I couldn't stop thinking about it. So I guess I could say I liked the story not because I enjoyed it but because it haunted me in a way.
