Elizabeth O‘Roark in her angsty romance era was something I didn’t know I desperately needed. It’s no secret by now, that Elizabeth O‘Roark is one of my absolute favorite authors. Her writing and way of storytelling never fails to impress and capture me. There hasn’t been one book by hers that I didn’t love. And she didn’t disappoint with this one. We follow Lucie, her two adorable twins and their new neighbor Caleb. Freshly divorced from an unlucky marriage and all on her own, Lucie gives all her energy to the kids. No time left for her handsome boss, who happens to be her childhood neighbor and the love of her child and teen years. Despite being set on letting the single mum be, Caleb is unable to stay away from her and her adorable twins. He’s supportive and caring and always available when she needs him. But he has his own problems - he’s married to a wife he hasn’t spoken to in over a year. They both have different lives and goals. Their own problems to go through. Being together makes no sense. They shouldn’t go there. But they can’t help but fall for each other. And I had the best time seeing those two fall in love and support each other through their struggles. It was angsty, it was emotional, it was heartwarming. I got teary eyed often, equally for sad and for happy reasons. If you want a beautiful small town romance with a single mum and many emotions - this is for you. There’s not a genre Elizabeth has written and not ended up doing a phenomenal job. She’s done the hilarious rom coms, paranormal fantasy, sports romance with a bit of angst. And now with this series she takes angst and emotions to a new level. And I’m all here for it. I can’t wait to read to read the next book in this series about Caleb’s ex-wife Kate! 5
