DIP (Dramatic Iconic Poetry)
Good thing to read the first (famous, not saying it hasn’t been done before Stevenson) version of a now so well-known trope. Itsy bitsy hard to read bc it’s such decorative language that tends to twist my little brain when reading. Iconic choice of words / expressions, surprisingly meme-able / jokingly useful in 2025. Very willing to lend my annotated version to anyone who wants it. Only 70 pages, i’d recommend reading it at least once. Lots of free audiobook versions of it everywhere!
I didn't pay attention to this at all, I fell asleep halfway through while listen to it but from what I've gathered I like it fine. Idk I would've probably enjoyed it more if I'd have read it instead of listening to the audiobook because I usually can't retain information if I don't have undertitles to the stuff I'm listening to
Ich habe mir endlich vorgenommen mehr Klassiker zu lesen, deswegen durfte dann „ the strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde“ als erstes einziehen. So wenige Seiten, aber doch so vielschichtig. Spoiler!! Die Figuren waren zwar nicht sehr tiefgründig, sondern sehr einfach geschrieben. Das liegt aber wahrscheinlich an der damaligen Zeit. Trotzdem hatte man ein Gefühl dafür wie die verschiedenen Figuren funktionieren. Da der Begriff „Dr. Jekyll und Mr. Hyde“ auch ohne das Buch gelesen zu haben ein Begriff ist, hat man schon eine Vorstellung was vielleicht passiert. Trotzdem kam es anders als ich erwartet habe und ich habe von Anfang an gerätselt wie es jetzt weitergeht. Gerade das Ende fand ich dann doch ziemlich emotional, ich empfand Trauer, Mitgefühl… Ich glaube man muss das Buch selbst erleben. Es ist eine spannende Geschichte über die menschliche Psyche, der gespaltenen Persönlichkeit und von Gut und Böse des Menschen. Die Stimmung ist durchgehend düster und beklemmend. Von mir auf jeden Fall eine große Empfehlung für jeden der es gern düster mag und/oder auch mal einen Klassiker lesen will, der aufgrund der Länge auch ein guter Einstieg ist.
