I loved this book very much! I just wish I could have read it faster and kept a better pace... Because this book was so much more than I expected it to be! I've always loved Greek Mythology, but I knew next to nothing about the Roman Mythology. It was fascinating reading this much details about it. How the camp is organized, for example, is amazing. Kids going to college and having families right there on camp, so they can have a safe life is very well thought, and something that had never occurred to me was possible to make. Plot wise it was what we already expect for Rick Riordan: a quest filled with danger (more so this time, and in this series in general), fast-paced action, incredible battles and, of course, lovable characters. It was very nice the way we learned about Hazel's past, her relationship with Nico (that I loved seeing again), her life in the camp and her relationship with Frank (two misfits kind of thing). The way it was revealed to us Frank's "family gift", in the battle in Alaska when he transformed and was able to control the gift, and how the burnt stick was used to free Thanatos was amazing. Frank and Hazel are braver than they give themselves credit for it, and Percy knows that very well. Death having a tablet with the souls he has to collect made me laugh more that it should because I was not expecting it to happen, for some reason. Also, in the end, in the battle in Camp Jupiter I was so proud of what the characters were doing and had accomplished that i was smiling and my eyes were filling with tears because the scene was so amazing! The whole fight was amazing. And the way Percy destroyed Polybotes was simply hilarious. Just has we have been used to Rick Riordan gave us a great book, with amazing action and amazing characters.

Genau so spannend wie der erste Teil! Es war so schön, wieder etwas aus Percys Perspektive zu erleben und Hazel und Frank kennenzulernen. Und Ella, die mochte ich ganz besonders! Ich freue mich schon auf Band 3!
