To be honest, it took me a while to get back into the story, because I've read part 1 in 2018. But that it not the book's fault but mine. So I needed about a third of the book until I stopped asking what had happened and just enjoyed the story, with the information I had. Luella is on the run, because she is wanted for murder and is searching for a cure for her magical illness. She makes some surprising new friends / allies and discoveres more and more secrets about Bram, the carnival worker, who gave her the magic pen, her illness and magic in general. Towards the end, she decides to go back, to clean her name, but it's not working as planned. After my first struggles, (again, my problem, not the book's) I really enjoyed the story and multiple times yelled at her, not to be so stupid and finally do what she is supposed to. The book ends with a cliffhanger and I'm more than happy that the last book is already waiting here for me to read it. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
