Now a major BBC drama: The Strike series
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, she just thinks he has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home.
But as Strike investigates, it becomes clear that there is more to Quine's disappearance than his wife realises. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published it would ruin lives - so there are a lot of people who might want to silence him.
And when Quine is found brutally murdered in bizarre circumstances, it becomes a race against time to understand the motivation of a ruthless killer, a killer unlike any he has encountered before . . .
A compulsively readable crime novel with twists at every turn, The Silkworm is the second in the highly acclaimed series featuring Cormoran Strike and his determined young assistant Robin Ellacott.
*** The latest book in the thrilling Strike series, LETHAL WHITE is out now! ***

When I don’t read fantasy novels I am really into detective stories. I really liked the style of writing and how the characters were displayed. It really felt like a real case and I was trying to figure out who Owen Quine‘s murder was. The only other detective stories I read before are classics like Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. Galbraith knows how to keep a reader reading. I like the way that Strike is depicted and how he solves the case. Next read is book three (still have to read the first one in the series).

OKAY and far from outstanding

The start of the story cought my attention, because it was very mysterious with Leonora. But later the story was heavy to focus. I had no clue who was the murderer neither Cormoran. For me the end was protracted, and I have to admit I was relieved that it is over. Sorry.

So so excellent! With the first Cormoran Strike novel I grew bored near the end; the story didn't encapsulate me like The Silkworm did. I didn't find myself bored at any point during the story and I liked Cormoran a lot more, honestly. I'm just kind of sad it had to end!

After putting Cormoran as her answer to her younger self's Harry, the older Rowling seems to have exhausted her reserves. She is good no doubt and that is what saves it. But Robin and Strike do not evolve into contemporary Watson and Sherlock. Al is good but others are fake. Having been made to read some crap, she uses her dry humor to get back at them and asks for mercy. But Miss Rowling we expected better from you. We apologize if we gave you the impression of being your tissues but we wont soak your tears. Give us what is rightfully ours. We demand the magic.

I listened to the audio book for this one and loved it. The narrator is amazing, I highly recommend it! Both of the books in this series have been very slow-going for me. I still like them, however, because of the wonderful writing style and interesting characters. The turn-out of the plot wasn't 100% surprising but the mystery was still well done.

Aaaah finally finally this ended. Hmph, it took me a long time to finish and this definitely increased my vocabulary by 50 new words or say more than that which I am definitely never going to use in my entire lifetime and may as well forget them. YUS! I ALSO SKIPPED MOST OF THE WORDS BECAUSE I AM LAZY. :D Well coming to the book, it started out so well that i flew threw the first 100 pages of the book and I was really really enjoying it, until it got all slow and uh I wanted it to have some more action so badly, it was just lagging with things that had loose ends by the end of the book. Like Matthew and Robin he was just suddenly just okay with her working with him, he was just suddenly okay that she was not there for him when he needed her the most, Didn't come well along for me. Charloette as a character was building on to me and I wanted more of her. I was expecting more adventure, action and humor maybe in the book. I got really bored and wanted it to just end, I REALLY WANTED IT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH IT. All in all it wasn't as bad, it was slow but you wanted to read more, ah well It is J.K. Rowling after all. I read it in print but would recommend audio books for this.

This is freakin bloody brilliant. Just as good as the first. I need more ASAP !!!

The second case the sympathetic and rough private detective Cormoran Strike deals with was just as surprising and well built up as the first one. The case was bloodier though and also Cormoran lost a little of his being so special and sympathetic. Still, I enjoyed it very much (for which the slow and detailed writing style and the role of London was responsible to quite big parts)
