So this took me a pretty while, but foremost because I had other specialised literature to read first and over the xmas holidays I finally found some time to finish it. Nevertheless, this is a really good book and an interesting completion of the series. I must admit, I kind of lost a bit track of all the jumps between the chapters and time, but the action was still fast paced and the ending.. Read it for yourself, recommended! :)
4.5 stars. The last part of this book had me sobbing uncontrollably. I finished this 5 days ago and I'm still thinking about it. I just can't believe that I have to say goodbye to this world and these wonderful characters. This series has everything one can wish for, intricate world building, beautiful romances, found as well as "real family", especially with a complex brother - sister relationship, and overall a magnificent cast of characters. The Shadow Glass is the bittersweet but amazing finale of the The Bone Witch trilogy. And it was SO GOOD. I didn't like Fox in this very much, his behavior didn't really make sense to me most of the time. But the rest of the characters were as perfect as before. Tea is now officially my favorite character of all time, she is amazing. But honestly, all of them (with one exception) have a forever place in my heart. Although I guessed "the big reveal at the end" early on, the plot continued to be exciting. I loved to continue exploring the world, seeing more of the magic, laughed and cried with my faves, and enjoyed every second of this read.
2.5 stars Unfortunately the conclusion to the series was lacklustre. I didn't find it nearly as enjoyable as the first book with our introduction to the interesting magic system or the second one where I was fully invested into the relationship of both Tea and Fox. The main problem I have with the series are the many scenes where some great discovery or mystery is explained to us in great detail through some monologues of the villain or protagonists - it has a very "telling instead of showing" kind of feeling which is a shame. The whole "conflict" itself I couldn't get behind at all, I still don't understand Tea's sudden motivation to do the things she did and the villains are cartoonish and not fleshed out at all. I also never really got a good grasp of the world. New characters pop up and are killed off or serve to explain things to us in long history lessons that get old very quick. I still feel like picking up Rin Chupeco's other novels though. She does excel at the whole writing horror aspect so it would be a nice read for Halloween.
