It was good but I don’t know why that story was important…

I enjoyed this novella which really felt like a well rounded short story with characters that were only brushed on in the main series. I wouldn't have guessed that this is what has happened to Queen Elsabeth when everyone told the story of the mad queen and how she murdered three houses because she has seen with her gift that someone was going to assassinate her. Unlike The Young Queens, The Oracle Queen didn't provide with necessary information but with interesting, complementary one. It gave a better feeling for Fennbirn, the houses and the former customs before the Three Dark Crowns storyline. Having read both The Young Queens and The Oracle Queen I feel like I got a better understanding for the main story and the world around it altogether. I liked Queen Elsabeth's character, she was sympathetic and I felt for her. She had such bad luck and the worst of surroundings to even get a chance as to rise to a good, well-beloved queen. Last but not least, here's a saying that fell into my mind when finished reading The Oracle Queen: Only winners write history.
