Autorenbeschreibung
Wilde is educated in Dublin and Oxford. In 1882 he embarks on a tour of the United States of America to deliver a series of lectures of intellectual interest. His greatest successes come as a playwright between the years of 1892 and 1895. He also writes literary fairy tales, a novel, short stories and culturally critical essays. His outspoken and at times paradox theories reflect his radical advocacy of the reedom of the individual and of the autonomy of the arts. Because of his homosexual tendencies he is convicted to two years imprisonment. From 1897 Oscar Wilde lives in France under the name of Sebastian Melmoth.
