Description

In the "intense and captivating" ( Kirkus Reviews ) conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Diabolic series, the Empire teeters on the edge of destruction as rumors spread that Nemesis is still alive. Three years ago, Tyrus Domitrian shocked the galaxy by killing the woman he swore to love forever. The woman for whom he upended the Empire. The woman with whom he wanted to build a new and brighter future. Now, the once-idealistic heir apparent has become the cruel Emperor Tyrus, wielding his authority with an iron fist, capable of destroying planets with a single word, controlling all technology with a simple thought. He has bent the Grandiloquy to their knees, and none has the power to stand against him.But there is a muttering among the Excess. They say that Nemesis is not truly gone. They whisper of her shadow spotted in distant star systems. They say that Nemesis lives. That she will rise and rally the people to topple the man who was once her truest love—and is now her fiercest enemy.

tl;dr: this series deserves more attention! (@ deutsch-sprachige people: Band 3 kommt im Oktober auch endlich auf Deutsch raus!!) “I would have desired nothing more than a life with you, but we were not fated to be.” Around 5 years after reading the first two books in this series, I finally got my hands on the finale. Which also means that I didn't remember most of the details from the other books and am not good at judging if the character development here still made sense. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed how Nemesis finally figures out her role, not as a Diabolic or the Empress, but simply get to be herself and form her identity. Tyrus slowly descending into madness definitely made this book have some funny parts amongst all the war and fighting, and I really wanna know where SJ Kincaid got her inspiration for some of the shenanigans he was up to xD The plot twists actually reminded me a lot of The Cruel prince, of how cruel and twisted it was. Some critique: the time jumps definitely lessened the suspense for me, and the ending was quite bland, especially in comparison to how brutal and cruel everything else in this series was, but oh well, it is after all YA. I am overall satisfied with this book, but that doesn't mean I wasn't hoping for more awesomeness like in the first two books

Finally I finished this series. I must really say that I was not a fan at all. It was meh. Ok. I would not recommend the books.
