The Mime Order (The Bone Season, Band 2)

The second book of the series begins right where book one left off. This series is definitely one that should be read in quick succession. I noticed that here, not unlike the first book, the end goal of the plot isn't very clear until halfway through. Once it starts, though, it gets very intense. There is a murder to be investigated and a revolution to be incited and Paige is struggling without allies. It was great to read more about London and the syndicate of criminals that Paige is part of. Especially seeing more clairvoyants and their gifts was cool. I am starting to like Paige more and more. She is a rational woman, and while she sees how her former mentor and boss uses her, she also realizes that she can't escape his manipulations. She has to satisfy different expectations and is frustrated about her voice being not loud enough to warn everyone else about the dangers she learned of in book one. From reading the book the first time, I clearly remembered the ending and man, it is still such a great experience! Something I didn't really like was the love story-sub plot. I usually dislike it and here it feels like a typical YA romance. (Though I guess the Bone Season books don't really count as Young Adult, do they?) At least this development isn't at the center of the book. Overall, I enjoyed the second book and am looking forward to the rest of the series!
