Beschreibung

From #1 New York Times bestselling authors Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu comes the second book in the Eldest Curses series and a thrilling new adventure for High Warlock Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood, for whom a death-defying mission into the heart of evil is not just a job, it’s also a romantic getaway. The Lost Book of the White is a Shadowhunters novel.

Life is good for Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. They’re living together in a fabulous loft, their warlock son, Max, has started learning to walk, and the streets of New York are peaceful and quiet—as peaceful and quiet as they ever are, anyway.

Until the night that two old acquaintances break into Magnus’s apartment and steal the powerful Book of the White. Now Magnus and Alec will have to drop everything to get it back. They need to follow the thieves to Shanghai, they need to call some backup to accompany them, and they need a babysitter.

Also, someone has stabbed Magnus with a strange magical weapon and the wound is glowing, so they have that to worry about too.

Fortunately, their backup consists of Clary, Jace, Isabelle, and newly minted Shadowhunter Simon. In Shanghai, they learn that a much darker threat awaits them. Magnus’s magic is growing unstable, and if they can’t stop the demons flooding into the city, they might have to follow them all the way back to the source—the realm of the dead. Can they stop the threat to the world? Will they make it back home before their kid completely wears out Alec’s mom?

"You're my heart, Magnus Bane. Stay unbroken, for me." I couldn't really connect with this book. Mainly because it read more YA as the other books from Cassandra Clare that I've read, even though it was advertised as more adult. But also because I think I got the overall reading order messed up which obviously is entirely on me. The red scrolls of Magic felt so much more magical and whimsical and we got way more Malec content compared to this one. Magnus remains my favorite character and I loved how he stayed positive as always. He never gave up on saving Ragnor and himself. And no matter what Shinyun threw their way, Magnus wanted to save her too. Wants to help her and everyone else see the beauty in the world like he does. Part of why I ship Malec so hard is the way Magnus is humbled by Alec and how in live Alec is with Magnus. There are no limits to his protectiveness of Magnus and by extension Max. Also I loved the chinese mythology woven into this book.

While "the Red Scrolls of Magic" (part 1 of the eldest curses series) was exciting to read, the second part "the Lost Book of the White" was not as easy to get into. I am glad to read more of my favourite couple - and I could read 500 pages of them going at their daily lives - this was a bit farfetched although I enjoyed the main bad guy interacting with all characters. I'm looking forward to part 3 of the series, hopefully with both kids and what will enfold after the epilogue of book two.

Again, I can’t say much about this book, without spoiling anything. I have to say tho, that because of the time setting, the events are happening in, you weren’t as scared for the characters, as if it would happen now. You know everything will be fine. But still, I really wondered how. I mean ... it wasn’t obvious to me at all, wich I enjoyed very much. Also, some of the storylines we already know, made more sense at the end of this book.

4-starish kind of rating RTC

seriously guys if you dislike Cassie that much and if you hate the books she writes WHY DO YOU EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME ON WRITING A REVIEW ON A BOOK THAT HASN'T EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET? If you don't like it - don't read it. no reason to spread hate. Why do you even care? This is getting really annoying; don't you have better things to do than hate on a book that isn't even out yet? guess what, she can write about whatever she wants to write and even if she publishes 100 more books in the Shadowhunter world - so what? why do you care? just get over it and read books you like. jeez guys.
