I really loved this book it truly catched me. Percy, Anabeth and Grover are an amazing trio. This book is perfect for anyone who likes Greek mythology with a great humor.

Reread einer Reihe, die mir besonders am Herzen liegt! Die griechische Mythologie ist super spannend und Percys Abenteuer absolut lesenswert!

It was great. Anders kann ich es nicht beschreiben. Sowas ist halt genau was für mich, weil ich Mythologien (especially die griechische) mega interessant finde. Und das kombiniert mit dem Plot ist einfach super. Das Ende war mega unerwartet aber es ging etwas schnell um weil sich der Anfang sehr lange gezogen hat. Ist aber auch erst das 1. Buch, also verständlich. Im Gegensatz zu dem Film 100 mal besser und gar nicht zu vergleichen. Ich will meinen Sommer auch auf Camp Half-blood Hill verbringen😔

Meine absolute Lieblingsreihe! Ich musste nachdem jetzt endlich die Serie raus ist das erste Buch rereaden und was soll ich sagen selbst beim 5.000 lesen ist es immer noch ein Meisterwerk!

Eine meiner absoluten Lieblingsbücher als Frühjugendlicher. Selbst im Erwachsenenalter gefällt sie mir jedoch noch enorm! Ein erfrischender Einblick in die griechische Mythologie mit jeder Menge Abenteuern

Honestly amazing! The writing is seriously phenomenal: it's incredibly funny, since it happens to be told from the pov of a 12 year old boy who happens to have a great sense of humour. But it's also action-packed and contains very emotional dialogue. I just love the general idea of telling Greek Mythology in this new and interesting way in all it's amazing detail. It was released 19 years ago but is still amazing and serves as great entertainment for young and old(er) fantasy lovers.

Although the story seems to be inspired by Harry Potter I still love this book. It's got a new twist on it, is well written and exciting. I enjoyed reading it a lot!

I just love Percy Jackson. I can’t even review this book because I love it so much. I only gave it four stars because I feel like the others are going to be even better.

Passend zum Staffelfinale habe ich auch meinen Reread beendet und was soll ich sagen einfach ein Komfortbuch für mich. Ich bin mit den Büchern groß geworden und nach all den Jahren liebe ich sie immer noch.

Das OG Greek Mythology Buch

Percy Jackson ist der moderne Klassiker wenn es um Griechische Mythologie geht und ich kann wirklich nichts weniger als 5 Sterne geben! Es ist wirklich spannend und packend geschrieben und auch Kapitel die länger sind als andere sind voller Action gefüllt und ich kann es kaum erwarten die nächsten Bücher zu lesen!

Ein Buch, das mir vor 17 Jahren gut getan hat und das gar nicht so schlecht gealtert ist.

Re-read this after years. Finished it within 1.5 days. Just as amazing as I had remembered it. Now very much excited to read the entire series again

Liebs. Wundervolles Jugendbuch

Ich wünschte, ich wäre damit aufgewachsen. Meine Eltern haben mir damals nur Harry Potter zu lesen gegeben, und irgendwie hab ich das Gefühl, dass Percy Jackson eher mein Ding gewesen wäre. Griechische Mythologie habe ich schon immer geliebt, und das hat sich bis heute auch nicht geändert: hab den Spaß letztendlich studiert 😅 Tolle Geschichte, liebenswerte Charaktere und selbst als 30 jährige hatte ich mega viel Spaß die Abenteurer von 12 Jährigen zu verfolgen. Freue mich schon sehr darauf, die Reihe fortzusetzen! Und falls ihr bereits Kinder habt: drückt ihnen Percy Jackson in die Hand. Es gibt so viel mehr als Harry Potter da draußen :)

I have dreaded reading this series for longer than I can imagine, I didn't even bother to watch the film and to my surprise, no one around me pushed me to read this series either. I must say I was an idiot, I am an idiot and everybody else around me is no good either. BABOONS! THIS WAS A FANTASTIC START TO AN EPIC SERIES. (Yeah I am going to say that without even reading the other books in series, just with the first one I am sure of it.) I think giving out a description to this book is pointless because everyone knows what it is, I live under a rock and hence I know now what it is xD This book has great characters and a lot of scope for them to grow into something great. I didn't feel anywhere that the book was lagging or anything was forced and that is the beauty of the storyline as for how easily things are just flowing from one thing to another and just feels real. Percy is hilarious and I loved to read from his perspective. You know the recipe of a good story line is - Comedy, Action, Drama, Family Drama, Romantic Drama, Good friends, MAGIC (which makes everything going) and most importantly the mystery and this book gives it to you in the best possible combination. Rick Riordan's writing style kind of reminded me of J.K. Rowling and it was amazing! ONE SHOULD PICK IT UP IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY BECAUSE THEY ARE BABOONS LIKE ME.

giving this book five stars for nostalgic reasons; when reading it, it felt closer to a 4 star read tbh... I've read the series ~10 years ago and don't remember how it ends (I don't even think I ever read the 5th book tbh), which is why I am re-reading it. I also only read the first three books of Heroes of Olympus and before I continue that, I felt like a re-read of PJO was neccessary. I still remembered the whole plot of the book... I've watched the movie a couple of times and know the musical soundtrack by heart, so I am not really surprised by how little the book surprised me. I still love the book, especially the banter, but the writing style was sometimes a bit simple and because there were so many summarizing sentences, it felt a bit too quick. But I know that Rick Riordans work kept improving over the years so I can definitely recommend this series. But like, keep in mind that the series was aimed at teenagers and was written 15 years ago, when not so many of these fantasy/coming of age/heroic stories were published

I can’t believe it took me this long to read it!

What a great story! I would hazard a guess that I would have loved it even more, if I would have read it when I was in my teenage years, but I still enjoyed it. I can’t believe that Percy is only 12 years old, but the adventures he takes on with his friends are exciting and their friendship just for the heart. It’s nothing like an adult adventure book, but the story reminded me of easier times and of being young. I have a special edition at home and can’t wait to read this with my son when he’s older.

Auch nach dem gefühlt millionsten Mal, hat dieses Buch wieder eine magische Wirkung auf mich und ist nicht umsonst ein absolutes Comfortbook! Percy, der erfährt, dass er ein Halbgott ist, wie er diese für ihn neue Weit entdeckt, die Freundschaft zwischen ihm, Grover und Annabeth, die richtig herzerwärmend ist, weil sie alle füreinander einstehen und immer zusammenhalten und diese eingebauten Twists, die die Geschichte, die sowieso schon spannend und absolut wunderschön ist, noch abrunden. Also auch nach dem ich-weiß-nicht-wie-vielten-Mal immer eine große Empfehlung!

Epischer Einstieg

Inhalt Percy ist ein Problemkind. Kriegt schlechte Noten, hat ADHS und ist unbeliebt bei Lehrern. Was er nicht weiß, dass er ein Halbgott ist und deswegen diese Probleme hat. Doch sein Vater braucht ihn um die Welt zu retten. Rezension Ich liebe die ganze PJO Reihe. Ich finde dieses Buch ist ein Super start in die Reihe und erklärt gut was passiert. Ich finde es toll, dass die ,,echten" Figuren der alten griechischen Mythen immer wieder eine Rolle spielen. Auch liebe ich den Schreibstil, der seht unformal ist und halt sich wie ein Tagebuch eines 12jährigen lesen lässt. Das besondere hieran war, dass ich dieses Buch als erstes Buch jemals auf englisch gelesen habe. Es war cool auch mal das ,,orginal" zu lesen auch wenn es manchmal noch schwer war einige Worte zu verstehen.

Immer wieder eine wunderbare, lustige Lektüre. Half Blood Hill ist Wie ein Zuhause für mich! Annabeth, Percy und Grover begrüßen mich jedes Mal wie alte Freunde und ich begebe mich immer wieder gerne mit ihnen ins Abenteuer.

i think teenage me would've loved this, but unfortunately teenage me was not bothering. but it is a) not bad and b) a quick and easy read for procrastinating. sooo... a win is a win

I think this is a fast paced, lovely start of the series. The friendship is starting, everyone and everyTNING is introduced in a fast way that doesnt overwhelme the reader. I love the way the mythical creatures are described as living in a modern everyday life and a little different than you might think but are not seen by mortals. I will be reading the next book in the series soon!

2nd re-read before the show airs on Disney+! Funny, it seemed like I forgot a lot of the plot in the span of the two years since I've last read the first book of the series. This was a great introduction to his world and thanks to the awful movie adaption, I roughly recalled scenes like Medusa and the Las Vegas Casino. I still enjoyed it! The humour is really unique and it makes Riordan's books so special. Without it, they just wouldn't hit as hard as they do. Gods - the forces you call the Greek gods - are very much alive. It's been years since I've read those books and I was happy to re-visit Camp Half Blood again. I have read the Magnus Chase series like two years ago and I have to say, Rick Riordan's writing definitely improved. While the series about Norse mythology made me laugh out loud way too many times, re-reading Percy Jackson was kind of a letdown, because it wasn't as funny as the books about Magnus Chase. Yet I still loved being back with Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. There were so many scenes I forgot about and the movie really didn't do the book justice. I still love the idea of certain people being the children of Greek gods and living together in a camp. It's such a great book for children and I'm excited about reading the next one.

Jetzt habe ich daraus gelernt, denn der FIlm ist vollkommen anders als das Buch und lange nicht so gut. Die gesamte Handlung ist anders, der FIlm ändert so viel, was ihn deutlich schlechter macht. Der Schreibstil ist sehr einfach, sodass man praktisch durch die Seiten fliegt und nicht lange braucht um das Buch zu lesen. Zudem ist durchgehend Spannung vorhanden, man ist neugierig, was dahinter steckt und wie alles zusammenhängt, da die Fragen erst auf den letzten Seiten geklärt werden. Zudem steckt in dem Buch einfach so viel Humor, Sarkasmus und Witz, dass man neben Spannung auch sehr viel Spaß hat es zu lesen. Obwohl die Protagonisten noch Kinder sind, Percy selbst ist 12 Jahre alt, merkt man es nicht und stört sich nicht daran. Wobei man anmerken sollte, dass die Protagonisten sich nicht ihrem Alter entsprechend verhalten. Sie wirken mehr wie 15, was mein kleiner Kritikpunkt ist. Für 12 sind sie zu reif. Wenn man das mit 10 liest merkt man sowas allerdings nicht und für diese Altersgruppe ist das definitiv geeignet, ich bin einfach ein bisschen spät dran. Auch habe ich wahnsinnig viel über die griechische Mythologie gelernt, für die ich mich sowieso interessiere, aber allein durch die Geschichte weiß ich nun sehr viel mehr und das auf unterhaltende Art und Weise. Was mir noch aufgefallen ist, Percy ist kein perfekter Held. Er hat zwar wenig Fehler - zumindest werden keine dargestellt - aber perfekt ist er trotzdem nicht. Insgesamt sind er, Annabeth und Grover aber sehr nah an den perfekten Helden. Es fällt nur wenig auf, aber da es ein Kinderbuch ist sollte man nicht zu kritisch sein. Kurze Übersicht + sehr unterhaltsamer und leichter Schreibstil + sehr viel neues Wissen über die griechische Mythologie + guter Humor + deutlich besser und vollkommen anders als der Film - Protagonisten zu reif für ihr Alter und zu perfekt Fazit Das Buch verdient 4,5/5 Sternen. Es war zufriedenstellend, witzig und unterhaltend, nur das unpassende Alter stört mich, sowie fehlende Macken und Fehler. I picked this book again because I wanted to re-read this series (even though I haven't finished Heroes of Olympus yet) because I liked it a lot the first time but I read the books too far apart. And I think they deserve to be read closer together, have thought that since almost the beginning of the series. So here it goes. From the start of the book, Percy is a sassy guy. And he's smart. One of the things I like best about this book (and series) is that Percy talks directly to the reader; he addresses the reader right from the start and I love it. Percy had a violent streak, even though he doesn't act in it (at least not with humans). And he's kind of terrified of Grover after that whole thing with the "three old ladies in the fruit stand". And his reaction to the fact that Grover is half goat (satyr, I know) is priceless. He's shocked but, at the same time, the world just clicked into place for him! The running from and the fight with the Minotaur was epic and a great kickstart to Percy's adventure. I love how Percy is always so surprised to things in Half-Blood camp. Because his reaction is totally subdued, as if it's a surprise to find out, for example, that the man you knew as your teacher is acting a centaur but it's not really a surprise! The capture the flag game is boring for Percy, but it is what ends up being what makes Poseidon acknowledge Percy as his son. Then it's off to the quest. Off course that everything goes array during their (Percy's, Annabeth's and Grover's) quest and all the time they had ceases to exist (which creates a precedent that frustrates me to no end because I just want them to finish whatever quest they are on before the deadline; but this first one is the only one where they have tons of time and end up wasting them away - admittedly it is not exactly their fault -, in all the others they have a week or less and it is not enough time for anything). The Medusa part has to be the funniest, is nothing else because Percy has the balls to send her head to the Gods! But the tension in this book is good. Percy is so powerful that monsters are attracted to him and not only that Zeus wants him dead because of what he thinks he did. Ares is a real **** and Hephestaus weird sense of humour. The LotusCasino is a paradise that makes Percy and his friends lose track of time. The Underworld is amazing and I love it all! I was constantly remembering Nico and how Hades seems to be a kinder father than the rest of the Olympians. In the end, Luke reveals himself the enemy even though he is brainwashed (but that was easy for Kronos to do when most of the demigods resent their godly parents) and the Olympians, Percy, Annabeth and Chiron are aware of Kronos's awakening (even though Zeus forbids talk of it. And you know what he reminded me of? The Minister and Ministry of Magic in the Harry Potter series. They need to have the problem right before them to admit it's a problem!). It was really fun to read this book again, to remember everything and better understand things that are going to happen. I happy to have finally started what I have been meaning to do since forever!

I'm hooked and so excited for the rest of the series. So much better than the movie.

Sassy characters, ancient gods and a great adventure! I am super excited for the next books in the series, I bet they get even better when the story develops. Definitely a big potential and an fast read I enjoyed soooo much!!

4.5 Sterne Die Reise mit Percy und seinen Freunden auf ihrer Mission hat mir viel Spaß gemacht. Nebenbei noch etwas über griechische Mythologie zu lernen war ein toller Nebeneffekt. ***Das Ende war tatsächlich überraschend, denn nicht Hades sondern Kronos war der Bösewicht und die Prophezeiung erfüllt sich am Ende durch den Verrat von Luke sowie Percy's Entscheidung doch nach Hause zu gehen.*** Ich freue mich auf weitere Abenteuer in den nächsten Bänden.
