At the heart of The Husband’s Secret is a letter that’s not meant to be read…

My darling Cecilia,
If you’re reading this, then I’ve died…

Imagine your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret—something with the potential to destroy not only the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. And then imagine that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive…

Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all—she’s an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. But that letter is about to change everything—and not just for her. There are other women who barely know Cecilia—or each other—but they, too, are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.

What is this even?! It definitely isn't a mystery and also is very falsely advertised. The great conflict with the letter is a big joke: The letter doesn't get opened for a long time, from how the book is structured you know exactly what's in the letter (before its opened), after the opening there aren't any psychological/moral conflicts I at least expected. There just wasn't a single mysterious thing about this Only thing it does well are characters and their interactions

I didnt think this was as good as I was expecting. I guessed what had happened near the beginning and I think that was it. I was waiting for it all to unfold but I knew already. Also I thiught Tess was pretty whiny and soft for walking away so easy like she did. I think thatss basically what did it.

I finished this book a few days ago and I've been trying to decide how I feel about it since. I enjoyed reading it, definitely. The characters were well-written and relateable, and the story was compelling.

I fought my way through about half of it. Called it quits last night. The overall idea is great, hence the 2 stars. But the story was an utter drag. It seemed like there was no progress being made at all.
