I liked how the story developed with every page - and me with it. Nice mixture of humour and severity.
A Great Read I have to admit, the question of how an entity foreign to this planet would view certain things has occupied my thoughts on more than one occasion. This is pretty much what is at the centre of The Humans by Matt Haig, and he pulls it off amazingly. The thing is, it's pretty mind blowing to think exactly how much would be foreign, strange and unusual to something that isn't used to it. Even the way we behave, so managing to get us to feel that way is quite an accomplishment! Yes, I'm sure if you study it carefully there will be a few things where you would go 'How would an alien know about that?' but I'm pretty sure you'd have to go looking for them. Ultimately Haig has written a convincing story that makes you truly think about your own existence, and that's a brilliant achievement.

Extraordinary! I laughed and cried when reading this!
(Might contain spoilers) This book is yet another reason why I believe Matt Haig is the best author of our times. I just love how he puts his beliefs and understandings of the world and the people in it into his characters and turns it into a truly enjoyable story. Apart from that, the story was very beautiful in itself. I love how the protagonist’s perspective alienated humans and therefore made me see some things from a perspective only an extraterrestrial being could have. It made me relate to it so much - in the beginning, when he was absolutely disgusted by humans (like how I feel sometimes as well), but later when he starts to see the beauty in humans as well. All in all, 5/5 ⭐️. And I will immediately start reading another book by this genius author!

The Humans ist eine tolle Mischung aus lustigen und nachdenklichen Momenten. Die Geschichte handelt von einem Ausserirdischen doch sie beschäftigt sich mit grundlegenden Fragen was es bedeutet ein Mensch zu sein. Während die Geschichte anfangs total witzig ist, da der Erzähler sich zuerst in unserer Welt zurechtfinden muss, doch die Geschichte wird schnell tiefgründiger und beschäftigt sich mit Dingen, die nicht nur einen Ausserirdischen, sondern auch uns Menschen beschäftigen. Die Geschichte hat mich teilweise echt zum Nachdenken gebracht und ist echt aussergewöhnlich, sie ist nicht super spannend und im Mittelteil konnte sie mich leider nicht immer fesseln, doch das Buch ist es definitiv Wert gelesen zu werden. Auch für Personen die nicht viel mit Sci-Fi und Aliens anfangen können, denn im Grunde beschäftigt sich die Geschichte mit sehr menschlichen Themen und Fragen und ist dabei echt berührend.

Anfangs aufgrund der verwirrten Erzählerdatstellung schwer. Mit der Zeit, während der Charakter zu einer umgangssprachlicheren Sprache wechselt, wird es deutlich einfacher. Die Geschichte fesselt mit einigen emotionalen Handlungen und Entscheidungen und lässt mit einigen Charaktern mitfiebern. Das Ende hätte aus meiner Sicht etwas dramatischer sein können.
