I don't know what to think of this book. I was really looking forward to reading it, but I don't like how the author is using Dutch words here and there. It doesn't add anything to the story. And I know Dutch, I don't know how this is for people who don't know the language. If you're an English author, writing an English book about something taking place in another country, I think you should just stick with the English and that be that. Or it has to add something huge to the story to use words in the language of the country the book takes place in. I just found it very annoying to read words and sentences in Dutch. It kept throwing me off the story. The story seems the have been written for high school students, not so much for adults. Like somebody else wrote in a review; the story is about a real hidden village in the Netherlands. But the way the story was told the people were mostly above ground. I didn't find any clue as to the village being under grand whatsoever. I didn't get the fear for the Germans very much. The brutality of the war didn't shine through very much. Overall, it's a nice story, but not great and absolutely not what I was hoping for.
