But Alejandra has inherited more than just pain. She has inherited the strength and the courage of her foremothers—and she will have to summon everything they have given her to banish La Llorona forever.

While I loved the story itself (women supporting each other, learning to love and cherish yourself, fighting or breaking free from what society expects from you), the writing style often put me off. Some paragraphs read almost clunky, and the conversations often were downright horrible. However, I really enjoyed the horror part of the story, and the author could've added some more horror sequences in my opinion since these were really well done.
Habe mich eigentlich sehr auf dieses Buch gefreut, da ich die Story rund um La Llorona super interessant finde. Doch leider war das Buch ziemlich langatmig. Ich kam nie wirklich rein, und hatte selten Lust weiter zu lesen. Die Charaktere sind unnahbar, was schade ist, da die Story wahrscheinlich eher character-driven sein sollte. Die Kinder waren auch absolut unglaubwürdig, sie sprachen wie Erwachsene. Zudem hat es sich extrem repetitiv angefühlt - La Llorona wurde immer mit den gleichen Worten beschrieben. Die Sätze kamen copy-paste immer wieder gleich vor.
