Delightful historical romcom

Robin & Marianne Loxleigh are new in town for the season, and everyone is delighted by the siblings. Everyone but John Hartlebury, whose niece Alice Fenwick is being pursued by the charming Robin. Hart is suspecting some sort of foul play, and he would be right since those two are indeed fortune hunters. But the more Hart gets involved, the more he learns about Robin; he can't help getting charmed himself 🤭 I really enjoyed this book. It was delightfully written, quite funny, but also had more serious topics of class differences, being gay at that time or also just being a woman. I thought that was all portrayed really well without getting too dark or the solutions seeming too easy/modern. Same for the speech that was used (seemed authentic enough to me). I especially liked the handling of the (mostly female) side characters. They got their own stories and aspirations that weren't solely tied to the main characters. The sibling relationships were great. Not just Robin and Marianne, but Hart and Edwina as well. Alice is also a great character (loved the conversation about dice). Giles character arc was surprising to me, but in a positive way in the end. Generally, I really have nothing to complain about. There was a bit much back and forth, but it was reasonable, and their disputes were always portrayed in a way where you could understand both sides, which I really liked. The smut was also nice btw 😂 But it wasn't much after a while, a few fade to black scenes as well (good balance I'd say, though I would have liked to see some of them written out 👀). So yeah, all in all, great book, and I'll definitely read more from this author (already have more on my tbr, so I am glad I liked this one 😂).

Yes, hello, I'm all in for Regency Romance und Robin und Marianne und Hart waren so wholesome und die verschiedenen Struggles so real und gut angesprochen, wie zB Machtgefälle durch Stand und Reichtum.
