Beschreibung

Totally original and utterly compelling, with a voice all of its own, this is the outstanding new thriller from the no.1 internationally bestselling author of The Silent Patient, Alex Michaelides.

This is a tale of murder.
Or maybe that's not quite true. At its heart, it's a love story, isn't it?

One spring morning, reclusive ex-movie star Lana Farrar invites a small group of her closest friends for a weekend away, on her small private island, just off the coast of Mykonos.

Beneath the surface, old friendships conceal violent passions and resentments. And in forty-eight hours, one of them will be dead.

But that was just the beginning...

You may think you know this story. Think again.

2.75 I loved 'The Silent Patient' by this author and was very excited (and had high expectations) for The Fury. The two books are very different from each other. The Silent Patient is very plot driven and you rarely have breaks from the storyline. The Fury on the other hand had many interruptions in the story but also in the writing which all makes sense and fits the book but it stopped my reading flow at some points. The first half was long, the second half I read in one sitting. The writing is also very interesting. The narrator who is also one of the characters is speaking to the reader directly, I found that very cool but abstract and unusal at the same time. I didn't guessed the plot twists but I also wasn't surprised by them. My feelings for this book are very contradicting. I liked it but it's so different from my comfort zone. It's not a bad book at all, I enjoyed the second half really much but would I recommend it? Maybe, it's not for everyone (I loved the reverence to one of the characters of The silent patient at the end)

It was difficult to decide between 1 or 2 stars. Let me explain. I did not like it, because it was veeery slow and dragged on - until the end. It was quite predicitable, very predictable. They were some quick turns, but not in the good or positively surprising way. It was repetitive - replaying previous scenes and happenings - which might work for me a lot better in a movie or show, but not in a book that way. The plot and the "motivation" and action of characters (as far as the narrator told us) are difficult to fathom and seem arbitrary at times. However, this might be deliberate - as we have a first person narrator. I give it two stars, because I assume, the writing style and how it was constructed and telling the story was deliberate and due to staying true to the narrator of the story. I did not enjoy reading it and pulled through by hoping the revelation at the end might be surprising enough, which it wasn't (more like I expected after the first chapter).
