Beschreibung

In the vein of Lebowitz's acclaimed Netflix limited series, Pretend It's a City—The Fran Lebowitz Reader brings together two of the famed author's bestsellers, Metropolitan Life and Social Studies.

In "elegant, finely honed prose" (The Washington Post Book World), Lebowitz limns the vicissitudes of contemporary urban life—its fads, trends, crazes, morals, and fashions. By turns ironic, facetious, deadpan, sarcastic, wry, wisecracking, and waggish, Fran Lebowitz is always wickedly entertaining.

Fran Lebowitz. Her humor is certainly not for the faint of heart. Her sharp sarcasm stops at nothing. Political correctness is not a term she seems to ever have heard of or considered at greater length, she will make fun of you and everything and everyone you love. She will be condescending, unapologetic, and downright rude. So be warned. However, she will also be hilariously funny, sharp and incredibly eloquent in roasting you. Her observations will have you cackling at 2am, a time at which you will still be awake because you can't help but read just ONE more chapter. See who she will attack next. See how she continues to explain why chain smoking and sleeping until noon and remaining childless and hating people in general are the only correct life decisions. Take everything she says with a grain of salt. Realize that she isn't taking anything seriously, neither you nor herself. Marvel at the language and the expert burn. There is a high chance you might start to like her after all. This book is, by the way, also the perfect companion for reading on the go. What book fits your coat pocket and is optimal for short in-between reading sessions?
