Beschreibung

A student nurse has the shock of her life when she discovers her patient, prosecutor Derek Nicholson, brutally murdered in his bed. The act seems senseless - Nicholson was terminally ill with only weeks to live. But what most shocks Detective Robert Hunter is the calling card the killer left behind.

Confession time: I personally don't think that Chris Carter is a good author. There, I said it. But before you're all going to hate me (I can already see all the death threats I will receive), let me explain myself. I read the Robert Hunter series because I think the cases are really interesting and unique. When it comes to thrillers, I like it "the bloodier the better" which is the reason why I enjoy this book series. The main character, however, is horrible. He knows everything (because, you know, he reads a lot), women tend to flirt with him all the time, he had a troubled childhood which is why he has insomnia and ... well, he just KNOWS every-fucking-thing (give me a dollar for every Hunter knew this and I'd be rich). It feels like all the other characters are just there to admire how awesome Hunter is. Which drives me crazy and makes me think that Garcia is one of the most underrated characters ever. Furthermore, the story always reads as if Chris Carter was in a rush while writing it. No emotions at all. But at least Hunter knows everything. Ugh. This is why I think that Carter is not a good author in the first place. Because his characters are either stereotypical or super flat and his writing still is rushed. But at least I do enjoy his plots, which explains the 3 star rating.
