„And with his heart sinking into a black abyss… Thomas pulled the trigger“
3,5/5 ☆ This book was kinda boring. But I'm sad that this trilogy is finished :(
3.5. I'm so sad right now because I have finally finished this trilogy and there is nothing to add to this story. Even if I didn't like everything about this finale, I really enjoyed my experience with the series. I think it's one of the best ya book series so far, it's so underrated.
Conflicted on the ending, especially considering the current real-life pandemic, but otherwise still as captivating as the first two installments of the series. I much enjoyed the continued portrayal of the relationships as well as the developments and the emotional journeys the characters went on.
i don’t know why but the beginning didn’t catch me really but after a while it got better and better. my heart is broken (maybe i cried ok) but i‘m also happy but mostly just heartbroken. i love that branda and jorge were more important in the book, love both of them! have to say don’t really remember the third movie but i think the book was way better and the story made so much more sense and was way more complex i really liked that. but… i loved the letter from newt in the movies it was heart wrenching and i kinda missed it in the book (the ending and the epilogue was still good tho)
Not sure what to think of this. It was a good end to the story, explained all the major questions and so on. But I guess I'm just not a fan of Dashners writing. Thomas is still super annoying with his perfect hunches. I would've enjoyed him being wrong even once. But this also had a few good parts, I think it was an improvement from the second book in that regard. And I kind of liked that at the end they still sort of did what WICKED wanted. I liked that they were being kept in the dark about it and Jorge and Brenda did a perfect undercover job themselves. In the end, I'm having issues with this trilogy and generally the way the story was told. But I can't quite express them. I was just annoyed while at the same time I wanted to find out what was going on. I don't know what to make of this book series. I guess maybe this is one of those YA books that I'm too old for to fully enjoy.
The first book was AMAZING but this one? I was hoping for a cure, for the answers to so many questions, for some romance. But … I was disappointed. The ending was completely different from what I have imagined. Since Dashner is publishing a new book about the aftermath, I hope that one will serve instead.
The book gets 4 stars because it was exciting but compared to The Scorch Trials I feel like something was missing. The characters were good as always, Thomas didn't fell asleep or got kicked in the head that often - so this is a huge plus as well. I loved how the end scenes just rounded up the series, going back and all. It has been a nice series and I'm glad I got to read them books (before the movie The Maze Runner came out). :)
