A relative short book for King standards with only 400 pages and could be described as an setup for the grand finally of The Dark Tower series. The Odetta/Detta/Mia character development was written superb, as you can expect with Stephen King. His strength are definitely character centric stories and as result his overall plot suffers. One of the reasons for this may be that King doesn't like to outline, but rather "discovery write", just sit down and write. In the Eddie/Roland plot he expands what he started in the earlier books of the series, weaving himself and his work in the overall story, which makes it very meta. I already have The Dark Tower laying next to me. Excited to see how everything will be brought to a conclusion.
