Morgan Rowlands is a sixteen-year-old girl, living her life, a bit in the shadow of her beautiful younger sister. But then Cal, gorgeous, handsome, sweet Cal, enters her life and turns it upside down. He invites people to his home and they form a circle, a family and Morgan discovers that she is not who she thought she was. She's a witch. Sweep is not written in a flowery or beautiful prose. It's very straight-forward and simple but always driving the plot forward. Morgan is not perfect but more often than not I found her a bit Mary-Sue-ish with not acknowledging her own worth and always comparing herself to other people and being completely surprised when she discovers that Cal likes her. Throughout the three books I felt that something was up, something wasn't the way it should be. I discovered the truth in the three books much earlier than Morgan did and it made me quite frustrated, to see her so dense and blind. Granted some of the diary entries at the beginning of the chapters gave us more insight than Morgan had but you'd think she'd be more perceptive of betrayal and deception with her powers. I quite liked the first Sweep volume even though I hated the ending of the third book, so much that I contemplated not to continue with reading the series. I read the summary for the second volume and that gave me enough fate to continue with reading Sweep some time soon.
