As I read, this is my live review. Chapter 1 People in a galaxy far away still do knitting, even while flying around in their spaceships. Chapter 2 A storm trooper in a red suit instead of white captures the female pilot who loves to knit. Ending this chapter, I feel this book is not setting up an interesting story. And it has just gotten more boring/stupid. The Red hostage taker who is an evil First order member asks the rebel hostage pilot to tell him what she knows about another member of the Storm troopers, Phasma. I can't even imagine why this is supposed to be interesting. That is like being held hostage by the Nazis and asked "tell us everything you know about Hitler." Chapter 3 The pilot is in a torture chair forced to give information that is not really a secret or interesting.....and I am supposed to keep reading? Why he would have to torture her to tell him about his COWORKER, I just don't know. Anybody with a brain would just start talking!!! Or at worse make the wisecrack response "Why don't you talk to your HR department?" The pilot is not talking right away, and the torture machine is turned on. Electric volts are going into her body and for what? Just talk!!! Its not even a rebel secret!!!! The only way this is interesting is if the reader doesn't know who Captain Phasma is. As a reader you will first think its one of the good people and so she can't tell him. However, I looked up the characters name and know it's an evil villain in the First Order, so I am in plot disbelief that this is how the book is structured. I need to put this book down now. The End
Phasma faszinierte mich bereits in den Filmen, doch man erfährt dort leider eher weniger etwas über sie. Deshalb ist es toll, dass es das Extended Universe gibt. Delilah S. Dawson hat ein richtig gutes Buch über Phasma vorgelegt, das vor allem auch durch seinen Aufbau interessant wird. Denn wir erfahren Phasmas Geschichte nicht durch sie selbst, sondern durch die Augen anderer. Mehr will ich gar nicht verraten; nur, dass mir genau diese Art von Erzählung mit Rahmen- und Binnenhandlung wirklich zugesagt hat. Auch der Inhalt kann sich blicken lassen. Vielleicht gibt es eine oder zwei zu lang geratene Szenen, aber wir haben es hier mit Star Wars zu tun. Da darf man sich auch mal ein paar Seiten lang prügeln. Durch die Lektüre erhält man ein konsequentes Bild davon, wer Phasma ist, und was sie ausmacht. Dank Dawson finde ich diese Figur nun noch faszinierender und finde ihr Ende im Film nun noch ein wenig enttäuschender als zuvor schon. Aber das ist ein anderes Thema.
