Tropes: – dad‘s best friend – age gap – workplace/office romance – spicy – fast–paced
This book had no business being as good as it was. But if I’m not glad it was. I was a little bit unsure if I would like Serena after how she was portraited in her sister‘s book. Unnecessarily so. I like her. I like the chemistry between her and Landon. This book hooked me from the first chapter in good old Q.B. Tyler fashion (the kind I know from Love Unexpected or Always Been You) and I‘m thrilled. 20 years is probably one of the largest age gaps I‘ve read about, but if it‘s not pointed out by a supportive character I don‘t think you feel the age gap so much, mainly because eventhough she is often discribed as ‘inexperienced‘ and stuff, Serena comes across very mature, especially in her interactions with his son. Serena and Landon have a hell of a chemistry and sparks all over the place. I‘ve felt each and every spicy scene in the book to my bones, just amazing. This is also one of the first office romances I enjoyed throughout the ‘office romance‘ part, and that is definitely a new experience I‘m glad for. 4.5/5⭐️ 4/5🌶️
