Sand: A New Adult Dystopian Romance (Thalassic Series, Band 2)

Really fast read

So much happens in this second book, that I'm a little stunned after finishing it. Bird gains more and more memories but also more info about her condition. The author has breached a gap between magic/tech and science here, very nice. I really liked the sailing again. Getting to know the Kingfishers crew better and Bird making a new friend she desperately needed. Bird is thrown from one event to the next and the book ends with a huge punch to the gut. So I have already started Book 3 because I couldn't stand it ending where it did. There's a few scenes and circumstances that didn't make a lot of sense to me, like Five and Vi? And Bird freaking out over a hologram after being told there are no real windows there. But well, maybe that's just me. There are actually enjoyable steamy scenes in the adult version. I could have went without them but they didn't turn me off and didn't feel fake, like they do in many books for me, so it was totally okay.
