Now that Mo Xi has uncovered the truth after eight long years, he and Gu Mang finally have a chance to clear away the lies of the past. Both know the moments they share are destined to be fleeting. Despite his efforts to remain lucid, Gu Mang’s memories from the Time Mirror continue to slip away, and dark magic eats at his mind.
Yet peace at home is short-lived as new threats gather at the frontier. When the Liao Kingdom attacks once again, Gu Mang will join his former master, Murong Lian, as well as Mo Xi to confront their nation’s darkest enemy. Their mission: to neutralize an ancient danger inextricably tied to Chonghua’s most secret history.

Another great volume with many revelations and pain 🥲 (though I don't think it's as painful as people are always saying xD) The beginning was rather peaceful. I loved the confessions and their rekindled trust in each other 🥹❤️ But the peace can't last forever. The war breaks loose again, and we have to get ready for battle. The Emperor also drops some interesting lore 👀 And Mengze is the best, but those ignorant old men are like, "But we can't have a woman give the orders!" 🙃😩 She handled that like a queen, though (and I hope she becomes one, hehe). Also, one of my favorite scenes was, in the camp, when that one guy is spreading rumors and Mo Xi just verbally beats him up 😂 Then there is a big fight with the guoshi - who is this guy?! I think the reveal will be in the next volume, and it has to be someone we know of, right? Another big thing was the reveal of Murong Lian's past and connection to a certain someone 👀 It's still not clear what his motives are, but I'm excited to find out more. The ending was also really dramatic. It's always like "Gu Mang can't take anymore," and then he takes more (damage) 😂 It's sad and all, but I'm always like "he's fiiine" cause I don't think he's actually going to die.
