Auch der zweite Teil hat mir sehr gut gefallen, auch wenn es mir im ersten Moment schwer gefallen ist, wieder reinzukommen, obwohl ich zwischen dem ersten Teil, glaube ich, nur ein anderes Buch gelesen habe? 😂 Irgendwie komisch. Die Plottwists am Ende konnten mich nicht überraschen, die dauernde Miscommunication hat dann schon etwas sehr genervt … daher nur vier Sterne, weil ich mich dennoch gut unterhalten gefühlt habe und immer weiter lesen wollte.

Die erste Hälfte hat mir genauso gut gefallen wie Band 1, die tension zwischen Rune und Gideon ist einfach perfekt! 🥹 Aber dann hat es sich etwas für mich gezogen…kann aber auch einfach daran liegen das ich es in englisch gelesen habe und nicht immer alles 100% verstehe. Ich hab’s direkt auf deutsch vorbestellt und werde mich dann im November einem reread widmen. ❤️
Favorite book series of the year?!
THIS BOOK ATE! I fell in love with Rune and Gideons relationship. The tension and the forbidden love made me scream! The dual pov was great and the world building was amazing. The end was very good and it didn’t disappoint. If you like a short book series with forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, forbidden love and fake dating you’ll love this!

Die perfekte Mischung aus spannender Fantasy und mitreißendem Enemies to lovers Plot. Ich konnte das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen und habe es in einer Session durchgelesen. Absolut fesselnd und absolute Leseempfehlung! Band 1 war zu Beginn etwas zäh und man musste sich ein Stück weit durchbeißen, aber die Belohnung dafür bekommt man dann in Band 2!

Ich bin ganz ehrlich mit euch. Dieser Band hat mich anfangs nicht so mitgerissen als der Erste. Erst mittig nahm das Buch so richtig an Fahrt auf und konnte mich fesseln. Allerdings fühlte sich das Ende ein wenig übereilt an. Ich persönlich hätte mir ein anderes Ende und stattdessen einen dritten Band gewünscht. Aaaaaber ich habe die Geschichte von Rune und Gideon geliebt und kann sie nur jedem ans Herz legen. 🥰🥹

The sequel to „The crimson moth“ picks up some time after the first book leaves of. With the witch hunter Gideon Sharpe trying to kill the witch Rune Winters. The girl he loves but who also betrayed and used him to bring to former witch queen Cressida Roseblood back into power - or so he thinks. One thing is sure there will be war. Queen Cressida wants to rule the New Republic like she once did. But will she win? And what about Rune and Gideons relationship? Love or no love - they are opponents on two sides of a war surely there can‘t be a future for a witch hunter who fell in love with a witch …. 🥀✨ A was eagerly waiting for this sequel to be published because I liked the first book a lot. Unfortunately „Rebel witch“ did not quite meet my expectations. The book is fastpaced and easy to read but it still feels like next to nothing is happening for the first half of the book. A lot of twists I felt were really obvious and did not surprise me at all. And even as the story picks up I still felt it was only for the last 70 pages that there was real tension. Mostly I was frustrated by the mutual piningthat could have stopped long before it did if Rune and Gideon would have just properly talked to each other for one single time. Instead they accuse the other of lying every other sentence. I get that they both have a lot to unpack but just think it could have been done differently and a lot of it is left unsaid anyway. I had a really hard time with Rune as a protagonist in genreal because I did not like her - she closed her eyes to the suffering of the people at the mercy of the witches regime back then and while there are traces of her understanding I feel like she never properly reflects on how privileged she was and still is. But in the end she finds who she truly is and that was done really well. I liked Gideon a lot and unlike Rune I feel like he sees the flaws in both regimes and in his own behavior. There were a handfull of delightfull sidecharacters that I also really enjoyed reading about. All in all there is a lot of slow burn romance, not so much spice and also not a lot of new world building. I liked how the story came to a close even though a lot of events at the end of the book were really convenient.

Ich habe Heartless Hunter schon sehr geliebt, aber Rebel Witch top es. Ich liebe Ruin und Gideon so sehr. Die Geschichte ist rundum gelungen. Die Verzweiflung ist hier deutlich zu spüren, wie der Gedanke, den die beiden beim Lesen hatten, mir das Herz brach. Trotzdem spürt man, dass sie wie füreinander geschaffen sind. Definitiv eines meiner Lesehighlights dieses Jahres. 5 Sterne reichen nicht mal. ---- I REALLY loved Hearless Hunter already, but Rebel Witch is just so good that it topped it. I love Ruin and Gideon so much. The story doesn't get a lacking whole. The desperation is on peek here, like the thought both got while reading, made my heart wrecking/aching. But still you feel they so made for each other. Defently one of my reading highlights of this year. 5 Stars are not even enough.
