Beschreibung

So this was the end of the Legend series. I would even go so far as call it an almost 400 pages epilogue. I read this book in basically just a day. It's a very easy read, just flows past. But I overall I can say with confidence, that this book was completely unnecessary. It happened. I read it. And it didn't add anything of importance to the end we got in Champion. I know many people were not happy with the open ending there, but to me, that made it perfect. We got just enough closure to know, that Daniel and June met again. This book just told us, what we could already suspect. They are meant to be. They end up together. Great. I knew that. I read three books about them and witnessed them meeting again 10 years later. I didn't need another book to proof to me that they would end up together. Maybe I'm just bitter, but I don't enjoy this new trend of completed series getting a sequel years later. This world could have been discovered more through new characters as well. Although I really don't think there was anything that needed to be explored anyway. Before I complain some more, I just wanna say that the writing in this book is definitely better than in the original trilogy and that was great. I still like the world of Antarctica. It's intriguing and different. Even though it has a lot from Warcross, but well. I guess Warcross kinda came from it. What I think is very sad with this book is, that it didn't even try to get some new representation in. It was all pretty basic early 2010 YA dystopian stuff, that just doesn't really work anymore. And the romance was so underwhelming, that it should have been left out completely. Daniel and June work, because they were already established in three books. Eden and his love interest are just there, without any real chemistry or development. That they got together didn't do anything for the story. So yeah. This is the end of Legend. Well at least I hope it is. If there is a fifth book coming I won't be reading it anyway.
