Beschreibung

The highly anticipated sequel to the beloved worldwide bestseller Ready Player One, the "ridiculously fun and large-hearted" (NPR) near-future adventure that inspired the blockbuster Steven Spielberg film.

AN UNEXPECTED QUEST. TWO WORLDS AT STAKE. ARE YOU READY? Days after winning OASIS founder James Halliday's contest, Wade Watts makes a discovery that changes everything.

Hidden within Halliday's vaults, waiting for his heir to find it, lies a technological advancement that will once again change the world and make the OASIS a thousand times more wondrous - and addictive - than even Wade dreamed possible.

With it comes a new riddle, and a new quest: a last Easter egg from Halliday, hinting at a mysterious prize.

And an unexpected, impossibly powerful, and dangerous new rival awaits, one who'll kill millions to get what he wants.

Wade's life and the future of the OASIS are again at stake, but this time the fate of humanity also hangs in the balance.

I am not sure why I spent money on this. I ruined the first book as well for me. SIGHS.

I really wanted to love this one, but unfortunately it did not work for me. Ready Player One is one of my favorite books, but Ready Player Two gave me a hard time. Maybe it was the extreme pressure for time with just under 12 hours for the whole second half of the book. Where I enjoyed the bantering and unnecessary (but cool) details in Book 1, here I just wanted to tell the characters to get going and not stand around reminiscing and comparing notes on obscure details! In addition, while I had no problem enjoying the quest even if I did not know the games or films in Book 1, here in Book 2 there were two large parts that I had no connection to at all and just skipped ahead large sections and whole chapters: the whole John Hughes and Prince parts. So while I love the overall idea of the OASIS and really enjoyed Book 1, Ready Player Two did not match my expectations.
