Tropes – insta love – strangers to lovers – mute MMC – burlesque dancer – secrets
I do like the idea of this book more than how the story is executed. Hollis has all the tools to be a very interesting character - she is a burlesque dancer, after being controlled by them her whole life, she has escaped her parents, so it has to be said there is a lot of potential in her character. However, I think she comes across to naive in some moments throughout the book, and the way she brushes off Adams lies, I don't know, I feel like whenever he does something wrong (and he does more than once), she just shruggs it off despite having every right to be mad. I think Adam is a good rep for a mute character. Though I wished the last chapter wouldn't exsist (you know when you know, and yes it has something to do with him being mute) He is a male character I like, but I feel like some of his actions are rather questionable - regarding keeping secrets about things he should have told Hollis. I am still surprised how much plot there is. Like I said in the above, I am not complete happy how this whole story unfolds, it’s predictable in some ways, but I do appreciate what this book tries to do, and therefore I would recommend it - because I know there are people out there who would like how this turns out (and this book is rather underrated, so if you like the synopsis, you should give it a try!) 3/5⭐️ 🌶️/5
