Like, well. You know. I don’t wanna sound gay or anything but you’ve just got to let people be people, haven’t you? Wow. This book is obviously SO. WOKE! I really liked the premise, I really did. [b: The Flatshare|36478784|The Flatshare|Beth O'Leary|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1552471375l/36478784._SY75_.jpg|58189559] was quite enjoyable and [b: Our Stop|43480010|Our Stop|Laura Jane Williams|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546794902l/43480010._SY75_.jpg|66023730] sounded similar. I expected a cute, fluffy romance. However, I don’t think anything about this was cute nor fluffy. The male main character, Daniel, is basically a stalker. He saw Nadia once and became obsessed with the idea the she is THE ONE . It seemed to me that in his mind, he was already in a relationship with her. (Meanwhile, she didn’t even know who he is). Adding to that, he is just such a woke guy! He’s a feminist! He has feelings and he’s not afraid to show them! Nadia, yeah, well, I can’t say anything about her. I think she had absolutely no personality. She changed her mind the entire time, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it was so over the top. The f/f romance subplot felt really forced and out of place. To me, it seemed like the author tried to preach herself for how woke she is. She is aware of the problems of the world and shows it by having her characters talk about it. However, all these conversations seemed really unnatural to me.
The 3.7 rating on Goodreads [March 24, 2020] is definitely fair! This book is funny, cute, filled with loveable characters and an amazing humour. Definitely can recommend the audio book too! (Carrie Hope Fletcher narrates Nadia, and she has the voice of a Disney princess!!) I have to agree with everyone else here, saying it dragged a bit and there was just one coincidence too much. If anyone is looking for a book to read on vacation, or something light and easy, then this is it for you!
I liked the idea of the book. But somehow I was hoping for more.
☕️ 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦? All anyone wants is to make a connection. Nadia gets the 7.30 train every morning without fail. Well, except if she oversleeps or wakes up at her friend Emma’s after too much wine. Daniel really does get the 7.30 train every morning, which is easy because he hasn’t been able to sleep properly since his dad died. One morning, Nadia catches sight of a post in the daily paper: To the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress. I’m the guy who’s always standing near the doors… Drink sometime? So begins a not-quite-romance of near-misses, true love, and the power of the written word. 💭🇬🇧 I liked the idea of the book. But somehow I was hoping for more. At first it was quite cute as both of them kept hoping to meet in the subway and were very excited. But after a while there were so many moments described where they almost met each other that I can't imagine that actually happening in London. There was no tension or depth in the book and I didn’t really care if they met or not. If you want to know what happened just read the epilogue. If you're looking for light reading maybe this could be a book for you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
