She's a tomboy. He's the boy next door.
With three older brothers, Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, has always been more comfortable calling the shots on a basketball court than flirting with the opposite sex. So when her police officer dad demands she get a summer job to pay for the latest in a long line of speeding tickets, she's more than a little surprised to find herself working at a chichi boutique and going out with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game. Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with her neighbor and honorary fourth brother, Braden, sitting back-to-back against the fence that separates them. Braden may know her better than anyone. But there's a secret Charlie's keeping that even he hasn't figured out—she's fallen for him. Hard. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.
On the Fence is a sweet and satisfying read about finding yourself and finding love where you least expect it.

I read this book about a week ago and already now I don't remember much of it. This is definitely no good sign. I did enjoy the book though, it was a cute and fast read but unfortunately it didn't impress me as much as I hoped it would. The characters felt distant and I couldn't feel the chemistry between them.

Kasie West ReRead number 3 Boy is this reread of everything necessary becauss my opinion changed quite a bit. Charlie was kind of annoying tbh... Her opinion on girls kind of bothered me. She just seemed to think in stereotypes and reduce them to make up and boy talks which is not true at all. It also made her superficial and less likeable. Same with her annoyance at Amber at times. I did like her development tough. Also the family dynamic was really cute. I felt like so many things were happening during the last few pages that the romance kind of fell flat or at least got the short end of the stick. It was cute, no doubt, but overall it didn't seem to be as important as Charlie's personal stuff. Even still, those darker themes were just surface level and nothing too detailed / deep. Which is kind of a bummer as they are important problems that should not be glossed over. First Read: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reread: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked it so much that I found it to be too short.

1.5 stars. Meh. I hoped a fluffy YA would help me out of my reading slump but this didn’t do it for me. First of all, I was annoyed between the difference of Charlie and “real girls” who obviously only talk about boys, clothes and make up. Adding to that, no boy wants to date her because she plays sports and doesn’t wear make up. There isn’t a real plot and the characters are incredibly flat. I don’t think I got to know anything about Braden, Charlie or the rest of the family apart from the fact that they love to play soccer. The chemistry between Charlie and Braden is lacking and the romance happens suddenly, although it is predictable from the start. Alcoholism and depression are hardly dealt with and quickly swept aside. Maybe the author should have focused more on that instead of a girl changing herself for a boy.
