☆☆☆☆☆ Oath of Betraya by @olena_nikitin , is the first book in The Cursed Bonds duology, and unfolds as a compelling Slavic mythology-infused spicy epic fantasy with everything you want and more. I loved how the stary went! And the plottwist at the end was fantastic! As well as the other twists! I definitely could connect with our FMIC and loved her character. The two MMC's and the Dragon also had unique and interesting personalities. And there is getting better around the mid book. While the bond between the main characters is both intense and heartwarming, the side characters are amacing! Especially Anis supportive and loyal friend Katja, who knocked her out 😂 i love their banter! The world building and descriptions are fantastic! I definitely hope to read the next book and find out how she will deal with this new situation. And how the relationships are going.
Three powerful men. One broken mage. And absolutely no one making emotionally healthy decisions. If you like your fantasy with dragons, trauma, and questionable romantic choices, this one delivers. Oath of Betrayal will pull you in, confuse you at first, and then refuse to let you go.
Oath of Betrayal is what happens when you throw grief, dragons, a morally questionable magic system, and two emotionally complicated men into a pot and say: “Let’s see who survives, physically and romantically.” We follow Annika, a powerful mage who has lost her bonded partners and, understandably, her will to deal with… well, anything. So naturally, instead of getting peace and quiet, she gets hunted down, dragged into a war, and emotionally ambushed by not one but two men: Ormond (duty-bound dragon commander with control issues) and Alaric (dark, cursed, and radiating “I need therapy but make it attractive” energy).  I gave this 4 stars because once you survive the chaotic beginning (seriously, it feels like being dropped into page 300 of another book), it becomes ridiculously addictive. The world-building is rich, the magic system is complex, and the characters? Messy, dramatic, and absolutely impossible not to root for.  Also, the “why choose” dynamic? Surprisingly well done. Emotional damage all around, but make it romantic. And that ending? Rude. Illegal. I need the next book immediately.
