The beginning was a bit slow and I completely forgot this was supposed to be a Christmas novella, but it was really cute so 3,75 stars
Bored me to d*ath. Did not enjoy any book by Lauren Asher so far. I don‘t get the hype.
*I might like Luke’s touch. I might even like the way he smells like sandalwood and leather from the jacket he is currently wearing over a plain black Henley and jeans. But I dislike Luke the person. He’s annoyingly friendly, frustratingly thoughtful, and the kind of guy who could inspire a future comic book superhero, thanks to both his muscles and his commitment to helping others. * Despite the pep talk I gave myself during the walk over to the restaurant about being on my best behavior and acting like a mature man in my early thirties, the moment I saw Catalina, all bets were off.
3,5 ⭐️ This was honestly better than I expected from a Novella. This would've easily been a 4 star read if it were 100 pages longer. I felt like I really got to know Luke and Catalina. I loved their text messages and banter! Also really loved the setting of the hospital, Lauren did so well with it. (this is my formal request for a hospital romance...) Luke was so smitten for Cata, the way he didn't let up had me giggling and kicking by feet. Also them bonding over LEGO had no business being that cute. My only critique is that it at times felt a bit info-dumpy. I guess Lauren tried to give as much background info and character depth. But the sections that weren't dumpy were so good I could have easily done without the "extra" info. Such a cute novella, altough it isn't as christmassy as you might expect...
