⭐⭐️.5 but 3 because rounding it up ᴀᴅᴠᴀɴᴄᴇᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅᴇʀ’s ᴄᴏᴘʏ Thank you to the author Dhara Shah for sending me an ARC. The premise of this book sounds like a typical romcom and that is how I would describe the overall story. A nice romcom with a happy ending and somewhat relatable characters. ⚡ Dual POV from the main characters Seema and Adrian. ⚡ It is a mix of tropes: childhood friends/enemies to lovers and best friends little sisters/brothers best friend Now to my review: While the premise is good and the story overall is a good idea it is just very all over the place as there are references to past events that are not elaborated. The main characters while at first rather likeable get annoying after a while because 1. They do not talk to each other and 2. Assume what the other person is feeling and thinking and the reader does not really find out if those are the actual feelings of the characters and the other character does not really confront their own feelings. The different storylines all happen very fast and I could not tell you how much time was supposed to have passed during most of the story. The chapters are very short which I am a fan of because it is easier to find a stopping point however, and this could just be a pet peeve of mine, the sentences are very short, too and just feel very abrupt most of the times. This also gives a feeling as if there are moments missing in scenes and it feels rather jumpy. The characters jump from one extreme feeling to another or do not react in a proper way to situations that would have needed to be a little more elaborate. For example: Why is this character crying? What are their thoughts to react that way? There are some spicy scenes in this story but the passion, in my opinion, does not come off of the page. In conclusion I can say that this was a nice read but at times it felt a little unfinished and rushed to me.
