Wenn es um kreative und ausgeklügelte Magiesysteme geht, führt kein Weg an Brandon Sanderson vorbei

Für mich ein, wenn nicht sogar das Highlight des ersten Bandes von Mistborn: das originelle und durchdachte Magiesystem. Aber auch die Charaktere und ihre Motivationen fand ich sehr schön ausformuliert und beschrieben. Mistborn ist wirklich etwas Neues im Fantasy-Genre und ich bin froh, die Geschichte jetzt nochmal angefangen zu haben, nachdem ich sie vor einigen Jahren schon einmal gelesen hatte. Große Empfehlung für alle, die mal etwas Neues im Fantasy-Genre haben wollen!

Oh wow. Zuerst muss ich sagen - Ich habe ziemlich lange für Mistborn gebraucht, was wahrscheinlich auch an den ca. 650 Seiten lag. Aber trotzdem hat es nicht wirklich an Spannung verloren. Es war eine sehr gute Geschichte, und sie hat mir bis zu den letzten 150 Seiten wirklich gefallen. Ab dann wurde es dann immer besser, spannender uns unerwarteter. So viele Plottwists am Ende... Aber kein Cliffhanger, obwohl es noch mehrere Bände gibt. Alles in allem ein wunderbares Buch! 🔪🩶

My first ride on a sanderlanche, and boy, what a ride it was! I don’t really know how to put this into words, except for: I love the characters, I love this world, and I’m dying to find out everything that has not been explained yet. (On to the second volume)

I’ve been wanting to read the Mistborn Trilogy for quite some time, but found myself to be terribly underwhelmed by the first installment.

The first book in the Mistborn Trilogy felt like an expanded tablesetter to me: a rather complicated but intriguing magic system meets the usual political situation of a people being suppressed by their leader and a group of rebels wanting to change the world. I did enjoy Vin as a character, discovering the world of Mistborn and nobility throughout her critical eyes was a fun perspective, the push and pull between protecting herself from forming relationships but also wanting to belong felt relatable and real, given her circumstances. Kelsier was someone I didn’t know what to make of: I loved the father-daughter-like relationship he had with Vin, and also the levity he brought to the gang of misfits, but his motivation and schemes felt a little lackluster and generic, even after his secret plan finally came to fruition. The whole cast of characters gave the book a solid base, but I would’ve wished for more women in less stereotypical roles as well as deeper, more genuine relationships between the members of the gang. In the last quarter of the book, the story began to finally pick up to a point I couldn’t really put it down anymore, which made the first three quarters of Mistborn feel like a drag in comparison. I think the overall story has potential, but the first book of the series has definitive weaknesses in timing and storytelling as well as character development.

Dieses Buch ist ein ganz anderes Level von Fantasy

Nachdem ich viel davon gehört habe das Brandon Sanderson einer der besten Fantasy Autoren sein soll wollte ich mal schauen ob da was dran ist. Und meine Güte ich wurde nicht enttäuscht, dieses Buch hat vieles was ich bisher gelesen habe in den Schatten gestellt. Ich habe mich entschieden das Buch auf englisch zu lesen da ich wirklich sehen wollte wie Sanderson schreibt. Diese Entscheidung war auch gut. Anfangs hatte ich zwar etwas Schwierigkeiten mit seinem Stiel zurecht zukommen, auch weil ich lange nichts mehr auf englisch gelesen habe aber je länger ich las desto mehr fühlte sich die Handlung einfach natürlich an. Ich finde seine Protagonisten sind unglaublich tiefgründig und umso spannender war es mehr und mehr über sie und ihre Motive zu erfahren. Allgemein die Geschichte 10/10, Eingebettet in eine Fantasy Welt die mir fällig neu war mit vielen Mechanismen die einem erst im laufe des Buches erklärt werden. Perfekt, so hatte man das Gefühl die Welt wirklich gemeinsam mit der Protagonistin zu entdecken. LEST DIESES BUCH Das ist Fantasy in seiner besten Form.

5⭐️ HIGHLIGHT This is a new all-time favorite! I've been captivated by it for quite some time, always wondering if it lives up to the hype. Reading the first few pages in my local bookstore finally convinced me to buy it. And I am so glad I did! I've never read a book with such an incredibly developed magic system as in 'The Final Empire.' The Allomancy, with all of its different metals and their effects, really blew my mind. But not only the magic system; the world-building in general is so wholesome and, most of all, interesting! I’m intrigued by the world Sanderson has created here. And I haven’t even started with the characters. Kelsier, Vin, Sazed, Ham… These individuals are vivid, compelling, and utterly unique. I found myself laughing, hoping, fearing, and mourning alongside them. And the character development some of the characters made - incredible! I love multiple POVs, especially when they harbor secrets and withhold information from each other. The further the story enhances, the more tiny bits of the many great unknown backgrounds of this world are getting revealed, and I was left mind-blown not only once. All in all, I am so freaking grateful I found this book and the Sanderson Cosmere in general. Can't wait to carry on with the next book!!
