I watch this movie every year. It's been my favorite christmas movie ever since I've watched it the first time. I was looking for some christmassy reads this year when I first discovered that my all time favorite christmas movie was actutally a book as well. I was nearly crying when it came in the mail. Even though I watched the movie again this year I really enjoyed reading the book also. The book was written after the movie and it obviously follows the movie exactly except for a couple of things/facts which are a little different. It's a very quick read and I still loved it even though I know the plot by heart. It's so heartwarming and full of christmas spirit, this book puts you right in the perfect mood for Christmas. I also loved the introduction as it tells us how the movie became a book in the first place. I also really liked the historically background at the end of the book what told us more about the author himself. I love the point of the book so much. It reminds us all of the spirt of Christmas. On page 30 Kris Kringle says: "Christmas isn't just a day. It's a frame of mind. That's what's been changing. That's why I'm glad I'm here, because maybe I can do something about it." Sadly things haven't changed that much ever since but I still think that Christmas is something really special and not only a day; not only a occasion to give each other presents. Even though I loved the book it read a little like a script to me. I couldn't relate to the characters that much; did not feel very connected to the them, which might be because the movie was there first or maybe because it's just a very short childrens book and not an actutal novel. I have to say that I still like the movie a little bit better. But I still think that this is a perfect read for christmas and of course a must for everyone who loves the movie just as much as I do. So if you haven't picked this one up yet, you should do so just in time for Christmas next year because it's really worth it.
