maybe i'm biased because i'm a computer science major interested in artificial intelligence, but this book is not as bad as some reviews make it seem. the first 100 pages were rather slow-paced, perhaps too slow. but as adam became more important in the story, it got more interesting. i guess it's typical for [a:Ian McEwan|2408|Ian McEwan|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1404240951p2/2408.jpg] to grasp the mere unpredictability of life in his work, just like how little mark just appeared in their life. also, i thought it was very nice to incorporate alan turing, the "godfather" of theoretical computer science. the way that the a&e's seemed to be overwhelmed with the human condition is just a portrayal of ai in pop culture, just like in marvel's "avengers age of ultron". i recommend this novel to fellow comp sci majors, people interested in artificial intelligence and everyone who enjoys the tech in marvel and dc movies as well as comics. trigger warnings: suicide, imprisonment, rape, alzheimer's disease
