Must-Read for everyone!
Thank you Drew Afualo! You’re one of my heroes for writing this book. Afualo doesn’t whisper these truths; she declares them unapologetically, and in doing so, gives readers permission to do the same. This book educated me of my existing feminist beliefs, and left me more empowered, more aware, and most of all, louder. Her words cut through the noise of misogyny and societal expectation with precision, and she backs every insight with lived experience and cultural awareness. What struck me most is how she makes feminism feel not only essential, but personal—something rooted in identity, joy, and righteous anger. “In fact, I believe the idea that women can emasculate a man by being greater than him in any sense is a fallacy. You cannot make a man feel less than unless he first derives power from being stronger than you, in whatever capacity that is.” It reframes the idea of “emasculation” and exposes it as a fear rooted in fragile power, not equality. Empowerment isn’t about taking something from men, it’s about refusing to be less so they can feel more. “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” I could write down so many more quotes that stuck with me. I adored it! Loud is a must-read for everyone. Whether you’re just starting your feminist journey or have been walking this path for a while, this book will inspire you, and most importantly, remind you that your voice was never too much, it was always enough.
