fast cars go vrooooom
To me this book was like a rice-wafer? Like.. a snack, not all too complex, I got exactly what I went into it for and enjoyed it, but it also wasn't revolutionary? Might've helped that my F1 "knowledge" can be condensed down into "fast cars go vrooooom!". But yeah, I enjoyed Blake's character apart from the whole "she's so clumsy" part. Just. I don't need that. It's been done and just doesn't fit with an otherwise capable character like hers. I get wanting to give her a flaw, but this maybe wasn't the best one to pick. For Ryder I agree with other reviews I've seen that his opening scene was really off-putting. Not because of how supposedly cold and distant he is from everyone, but exactly because it doesn't go with his later characterisation. A personal highlight however, was Blake's Mum, Breanna. Not because she got with the hustler mentality and, apparently without much trouble, got herself and her daughter situated quite well, but because of how her love of her job is portrayed. Because can I just say that in 2026, when a lot of shit is happening in health care, it is wonderful to read about someone still being so driven as to work towards a job in it. This really helped set up her, and in consequence Blake's character. The last third revelation kinda didn't do much for me, but it was nice to see "grown-ups"(?) find their happy end too
Nette F1 Lovestory
