I got an ARC of this book in my May Illumicrate and at first I didn't really think much about it. I was interested in reading it since I had watched a bit of The 100 (I now know that the show actually is just loosely based on the books, but well), but I wasn't really that excited. I thought it would be casual sci-fi entertainment and in some sense it was. It still was really fun to me though. What carries this story is the characters. I enjoyed every single one of them and even the romantic subplots. There was not one romance that I didn't like or a pairing I though was annoying. There could have been more time spend in emotional build-up, but I know that would have been hard with all the four characters having their own romantic life. I was also happy, that they weren't just blindly paired up with each other, but had love interests outside of the group as well. I would have loved to see more about the boarding school, well other than the simulations. It seemed interesting, and I was expecting more school over all. Don't think that will happen int he next book either, but the space war story line was also very interesting. I liked the mystery around the fight between these factions and seeing the motivations from both sides. Really excited to see how that will develop throughout the series. I don't know how many books there are gonna be, but this is 100% a great introduction into the story and universe and I can't wait to see where these characters go next. Also I need Arran and Dash to be okay, cause they are my absolute favourites.
