Sehr coole Geschichte!!
Die Geschichte ist echt mal anders und ich habe sie sehr gern gelesen! Die Mafia Vibes sind sehr cool, die Charaktere gut ausgearbeitet…und polarisierend. Der Humor ist schwarz und brutal, aber nicht zu doll. Ich mag den Sound sehr. Es ist düster, aber nicht so heftig. Dark Romance ist es nicht, der Spice ist direkt und grotesk geschrieben, aber nicht übergriffig. Das meiste habe ich überblättert, weil ich es grundsätzlich nicht mag und mir die Ausdrucksweise zu drüber ist. Der Spice ist hier aber auch nicht storyrelevant, kann man gut ignorieren. Dean ist unsympathisch und ich mag sein übergriffiges und besitzergreifendes Verhalten ganz und gar nicht, es ist mir zutiefst zuwider. Gleichzeitig tut er mir leid. Er ist super ätzend, aber man merkt warum er so ist wie er ist. Ich bin so sehr gespannt, wie das zweite Jahr am Kingmakers werden wird…wie sich die Protas und die Situation verändern wird…
I did not know what to expect but this was a very nice Mafia dark romance (low on the dark and high on the romance) with an academia trope which I really enjoyed. The character were really well written and the story deep, suspenseful and catching. 🥽 Since my usual books are mostly in the fantasy genre often with a lot of worldbuilding and an intricate story I felt there was something missing here. What I enjoyed especially though is Sophie Larks writing which let’s the characters thrive and tangible.
I really liked this book. For some reason i didn’t expect to like it this much because i usually don’t like books where the protagonists are that young but for some reason you couldn’t really tell their age. The tension between Anna and Leo was sooooo good and it took them about two thirds of the book to get together. Spoiler: I didn’t expect both of them to be virgins because in these spicy books usually the man has tons of experience and already knows how to dominate his women. I liked that quite a lot because it was something new that I didn’t expect and also nice to see how they experienced their first times together. At first I also really liked dean but after everything he did to Anna and tried to ra**** her I absolutely hated him. The battles between the different years at the university were unexpectedly intense and nice to read. All in all an excellent book and I’m looking forward to read the next one.
